Vote your most favorite Civil Engineering Branches!

Friends!

I am planning to provide you more on the useful articles and free softwares on Civil Engineering Branches. To deliver these services to the right group of the audiences in this blog, I thus request you guys to vote for me. You can vote by using the poll located at the right side just at the beginning of my blog.

You could choose among the following branches.
Structural, Geotechnical, Transportation, Environmental, Construction Management, and Surveying.

The poll will live until the end of this month!
Thanks for my audiences and I will make my best to deliver all services to you guys constantly!

How to Get a Civil Engineering Degree with ease?

How to Get a Civil Engineering Degree with ease?

How to Get a Civil Engineering Degree
A civil engineer specializes in city building. This includes bridges, water distribution, infrastructure, and roads. In order to get a civil engineer degree, you will need to complete four requirements: find a school, meet admission requirements, pay tuition fees, and complete the coursework. All of these items are required to obtain a civil engineering degree.
Civil engineers typically work in teams with other professionals. They are responsible for taking designs, plans, and schematics and converting them into actual structures. This type of engineering job often requires travel for extended periods of time. Many key projects are located in other cities or countries.
A civil engineering degree can be obtained from both online or traditional universities. It is important to explore the different programs available in the engineering faculty to find the right discipline for you. Avoid schools that offer only one or two different types of engineering. The greater the breadth of courses available to you, the more enriched your education will be.
The admission requirements for a civil engineering degree vary, but typically require high school credits in calculus, algebra, physics, English, and technology. These programs are very competitive, requiring high marks to gain admission to the best programs. People who enjoy building structures and design are most likely to enjoy civil engineering.
Engineering is a professional program, and so the fees are sometimes significantly higher than a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree. It pays to explore scholarships and grants available to students based on marks or other requirements. Student jobs available on campus often pay significantly more than market rates. These jobs are considered part of the overall student aid package.
The first year of an engineering program is usually the same for all students, regardless of discipline. The courses are typically English, calculus, physics, structure, design, math, and technology. In the second year, more specialization in course offering becomes available, and the students begin to separate.
In the third and fourth years, the courses are focused on details of each field. Engineering programs have very heavy course loads, with a significant time commitment required. Many schools counsel students not to accept part time jobs or have outside commitments, as they will not have the time to follow through.
Upon successful completion, students apply for a professional engineering designation or P. Eng. The Professional Engineer Association of America manages this designation. They are responsible for evaluating courses, offering specific programs and running the examination and certification process.

Civil Engineering: A Short Review

In the introduction blog, I already stated what the objective of the blog I create. This blog I will firstly introduce a very short review to those who are not familiar with this engineering science and its branches.

To obtain such a clear and short meaning of the term "Civil Engineering", I start at the definition of this term. Referenced from wikipedia.org("http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_engineering"), that Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and natually built environment, including works suchas bridge, roads, canals, dams, and buildings. These physical built environment are also called "infrastructures".Note on How Infrastructure Workscan be found in several books. It is also interesting to point out that this engineering science is the oldest engineering after military engineering.

About the braches of Civil Engineering, the braches or sub-disciplines of Civil Enginering include envionmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, municipal or urban engineering, water resources engineering, Materials Engineering
, Coastal Engineering, surveying, and construction engineering. As you might see that this engineering science covers all most all of the important fields of study that really influences our life and society, or even the world! :)  However, those who are not a student or a profession in this field might see that this engineering science contains so many items to study. The items that I summarize are; for examples, physics and mathematics (a must), structures, materials science, geography, geology, soils, hydrology, environment, mechanics, and other fields (help me think please...). I can give you some mores like coastal engineering, construction engineering, earthquake engineering, and transport engineering.

Back to acient period where this field of study is not composed of so many items. Civil Engineering has been an aspect of life since the beginnings of human existence (actually I can say that this field of study couples with the beginning of the world or universe!)-explained more hereCivil Engineering Worlds. You might ever see that the early period of civil engineering (counting only for human period) is in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia (Ancient Irag). This period most people believe that humans started to abandon a nomadic existence, thus causing a need for the construction of shelter. However, for my opinion, even back before the ice-age period where the human still lived in the cave. This kind of the occupation can count for the use of civil engineering. So why?  this is because Civil Engineering is also about the mechanics of soil and rock. Although the caveman never learn or know about the process of rock erosion and soil deposition, the engineering sense of caveman clearly see that "living inside the cave is safe (at least safe from rock falling-slope stability problem in Civil Engineering)".

However, I agree that the human period of Application of Science and Mathematics to Civil Engineering  is from Ancient Egypt. Without the good knowledge in Mathematics and Science, we might be unable to see the great and great Pyramids withstanding all winds so many years long. The construction of Pyramids in Egypt might be considered the first instance of large structure constructions. Other ancient historic civil engineering constructions include the Parthenon by Iktinos in Ancient Greece (447-438 BC) as well. After begining period of the application of Science and Mathematics to Civil Engineering, you might see that the development and expansion of the civil engineering projects throughout the world extremely increases ( I could say exponentially), particularly, in the period of "computers".

To end this blog,  the word "Computer" I  left at the last word of the previous paragraph would shred-light on you that WOW! this is also another item related to Civil Engineering. So I think you will agree with my thought more and follow on my blog more often since the integration of classical subject as Civil Engineering to this modern field of technology and knowledge will of course present the article in multidisciplinary ways. This multidisciplinary views and translate into a clear and short article in the blog will change the old fashion of Civil Engineering talks to a new kind of hot and enjoyable reading and talks. So, see you in the next blog.

About Civil Engineering Blog

Welcome to Civil Engineering Blog. In this blog, I share everyone not only what I see and learn from my academic and professional experience in Civil Engineering, but also the impact of this classical engineering to my life and others surrounding me. All articles in this blog are thus the ready-mixed concrete that mixed the theory and application in Civil Engineering and what is currently happening in this world that influenced by this classical science. Also, this also includes all things influencing this classical science.

To end this warmly opening of the blog, I present one of my favorite word regarding to Engineering (included Civil Engineering).

" Engineering is merely knowing and being knowledgeable, like a walking encyclopedia;engineering is not merely analysis; engineering is not merely the possession of the capacity to get elegant solutions to non-existent engineering problems; engineering is practicing the art of the organized forcing of technological change... Engineers operate at the interface between science and society..." By Dean Gordon Brown.
